Week #69 Salzburg and the Covenant Path

Hey everyone!

Good week for sure. Lots of finding but hey, that's where the work begins :)

I got to go up on a tausch (exchange) with Elder Steinmann in Salzburg. I always imagined I could go there and then I finally did! It was a beautiful place. Sadly it was a holiday but we kept at it and met some cool people. One guy was from Munich and he shared how religion was hard on him because his mom forced it on him. That was sad to hear because most of the time people are just indifferent but this guy had a different situation. Sad but hopefully it gets  better

We took out the Ausstellung (bike display) again this week. We usually set it up for display and then go finding around it. It is good for people to see but we hope to share more Books of Mormon in the future.

We met a guy named Latif this week. Cool kid but a little lost. He thought prayer was something that got him everything he wanted and we had to show him that we can't get all we want. Sometimes we have to accept that the Lord knows better. He seemed pretty understanding of that.

On Sunday after church, we had a baptism for Marcel. He is an 8 year old kid from the Potemkin family. They are new converts and Marcel's Dad baptized him! It was way cool to see the family move forward on the covenant path.

We were out on the street yesterday and we had 2 tough conversations in the first hour or so. We kept going and stopped a guy with a Redskins Football sweatshirt. His name was Dwayne. He is living in Italy but he is from Virginia. We had a good talk with him but it did not start religious. He talked about serving in the military and other things related to that. All of the sudden he starts talking about how grateful he is for prayer and how it has helped him in hard times. He also talked about how he wanted to play college baseball but God led him to a different path. He did not become a potential but it was a good conversation that cheered us up. As a missionary, you learn that there are great people all around you. You never know when you will stop one!

Well I hope you all have a good week! I am excited for this week! I love being a missionary! I know this work is true. The longer I am on the mission, the more I realize how important ordinances and covenants are to God. Coupled with the Atonement, that is our only way back to Him. As we keep our covenants, there is a spiritual power that comes into our lives- the power of the Holy Ghost! I have learned a lot being out here and I am grateful for the Lord providing this chance to serve!

Bis nächste Woche!

Liebe Grüße Elder Evans
