Week #51 The Small and the Simple

Hey guys!! Wow that week was quick. I can't believe it is July already. Summer time has been a good adjustment for missionary work. There are more people to talk to and they have more time. Sadly, a lot of people we met are only in Wien for a short amount of time or they are leaving for a 2 month vacation. I don't remember having a vacation that long but it's cool. We have been dealing with a lot of that this week.

We met two guys this week: Max and Omar. Both were pretty cool but they were hard to connect with spiritually. The small things like prayer just don't seem that important. We tried to share what we know and what can really help in life. You don't know if the small things in life really work until you try. It is always about building a testimony of the results that come from small spiritual things.

We have been able to meet with some cool members this week though! We had a visit with a brother in our ward. He served his mission in Austria and they had 16 baptisms in 3 months! He added quickly that he did not do something special.  The Lord just provided miracles and he was grateful for them. We also had a fundraiser for the Young Women this week. They made us tasty toast to eat. It was also a good time to get to know some members.

On Saturday there was a big protest in the middle of the city. Apparently the government wants to lengthen the work day to 12 hours.  I have never seen Mariahilferstraße so busy. We got a cool sticker though.

Jonathan is almost ready for baptism! It should be later this month. He just needs an  interview and then he is done. Time has been going by so quick...

To be honest, there was not a lot of success on the street this week. I am not sure why but there was very little interest. It was disappointing but we kept at it. I have to remind myself that it is often about doing my duty as a missionary, even though interest is not high. On Sunday and Monday though, we were able to get 8 Potentials! Maybe not the biggest number but it encouraged me after a few hard days.

Well that's all folks. I have learned a lot this week that doing the small things really bring us closer to God. Meaningful prayer and scripture study. Service. We are learning step by step, grace by grace. You can't get to the top of the mountain unless you make all of the small steps on the way. Enjoy your week! Love you!
