Week #35 Volkswagen=The car of the people

Servus!

Yeah, I had no idea how to start this email but I hope you are all doing well. This week was filled with hard work and we are beginning to see some of the fruits of our labors. It is such an incredible experience to be a missionary!

Just some fun pictures!

On Wednesday, we met with two cool potentials. We first met with Marion. She was visiting Stuttgart for the week so we were lucky to find her. She was very open to hear what we had to say. She had a lot of questions and she showed good interest. She even took a Book of Mormon and gave us a referral! She is a Bahei which is a smaller church that believes all religions have truth and we should follow them all in some way. Kind of confusing but interesting concept. Our next appointment was with Benjamin. We discussed the Book of Mormon with him as well. He actually had met with the missionaries a few years ago. I have never seen someone so excited to take a Book of Mormon. He also expressed interest in the Plan of Salvation which we will cover next time.

Thursday, a construction crew started working on the balconies near our apartment. Studies were a struggle but luckily the church is not too far away so we can study there. We had a nice lunch with some members and they gave us four big bars of chocolate! The members here are so sweet. The rest of the day was finding and we were able to find some cool people to meet with.

Friday, I was super sore but also really motivated. One lesson we had on Friday was with this guy named Jul. We met him in January and we keep running into him. We gave a Book of Mormon in portguese and hopefully he reads it. We got an interesting meal dropped off at our house from a member. She is really nice to feed us but it was a lasanga stuffed with vegetables. No tomato sauce,no meat. Just a lot of carrotts, green beans, and other vegetables. It was interesting for sure.

Saturday we went to the Ausstellung on Konigstrasse. An Ausstellung is a street display. I met this cool guy from Turkey. He was only in Stuttgart for 2 weeks (kind of like Marion) and was willing to meet right there. We might actually meet him today and give him a turkish Book of Mormon. Later that afternoon, we gave a blessing to a sick lady in our area. She was really nice and it was special to be able to serve her. We went finding some more and I met a German youth who thought Los Angeles was the most perfect city. He was really nice and we were able to speak English together.

Sunday Ashock and Helen came to church! I also got to accompany sacrament meeting which was fun. Testimony meeting was so special. The members are really strong in their faith. We also got to participate in the ordination of one of our youth to the office of the Elder. It was a special moment for him and his family. We had a nice lunch appointment with the Strohers after church. Their daughter is serving in England right now. We ate delicious spätzle and apple crisp! I was so full afterwards. Sunday is a good day to recharge.

Monday we had district meeting in Stuttgart. District meeting is always a good time during the week. We can have a good time but still be spiritually uplifted. The elders from Heilbronn helped us afterwards to get to two lessons. Hansen took Elder Letort to Schorndorf to teach a potential who speaks Greek. I took Elder Larson to meet a guy from Minnesota. He asked if we could go to McDonalds and get 1 Euro Big Macs. We had good discussions about prayer, the problems in the world, and scripture. He took a Book of Mormon afterwards. He was really complimentary and open to meet again. We also went to FHA again with the Müllers. The Müllers are incredible member missionaries. They met a couple on vacation and have stayed in contact. They asked us to send a Book of Mormon to them. Sadly, this couple do not live in our area but we will send it to the missionaries who can meet them. I love it when members want to share the Gospel!

I was thinking about Moses 1:39 this week and how God's whole work and glory are focused on other people. It is selfless and He works tirelessly to help them receive the joy of the Gospel. I am realizing more each week how a big blessing it is to be a part of this work and to work beside the Lord in His Vineyard. It is not always easy. It can be disappointing at some points but it is definitely worth it.

Love you all!

Elder Evans

P-day emailing

Questions???
What is something you like about the ward you are in right now? The ward is really good at helping the missionaries out. With meals or trying to help with investigators or to just try to uplift us, they do a really good job of keeping care of their missionaries.
Besides the chocolate, what is something you love about Germany? It may seem odd but public transportation is really nice here compared to back home. It can get delayed more often than I would like but it helps so much with travel and trying to get to other places. I also like riding trains too so that is fun :)
What are you doing for p-day? We are working on doing a music video as a district. Elder Larson arranged something and we hope to post it before transfers. It might not be this week but hopefully next week.

Germany has nice cars everywhere!
