Week #20 Thanksgiving in Germany

Hi again from Germany.

It has been an interesting week with appointments falling out and people losing interest. It is a struggle sometimes but we move on with hope. Godwin is doing better and opening up more. He is asking a lot of questions and showing more of an interest to keep learning.

We had a service project this week with President Schaal. We moved firewood from a big pile outside to inside. The hill was so muddy that I climbed on the wood pile and threw the wood up the hill. Elder Walton then loaded the wheelbarrows and moved the wood over. It worked out pretty well.

We also had Thanksgiving with some members on Sunday. The appointment started late so I read stories with the Zhangs' little daughter Sapphira. We had traditional Thanksgiving food which was nice.

Q&A

Who is the person in the branch that has made the biggest difference for the missionaries?
My answer would have to be Bruder Zhang.  He is such a consecrated priesthood holder. He loves working with the missionaries and serves us a lot.  Sadly, he was released as our ward mission leader but we still get to work with him a little bit.

What should we do to be better missionaries here at home?
At home, just talk to people. People love to have someone they can trust. If we can build relationships of trust with other people, there is a better chance someone will ask for help when the gospel is perfect for them.

How many dinner appointments do you have in a week?
On average, 1 or 2. Our branch is not very big but we usually have a member meal every Sunday.

What is the weirdest thing that has happened to you on your mission so far?
Good question. One time someone who was in need demanded we give him money because Jesus Christ is on our badge. I don't think he understood what that means but we still helped him out.

How has your testimony changed since you have been a missionary?
That is a good one. I have realized how much of my strength comes from divine sources.  Pretty much of all of my strength.  The Atonement will always be something incredible and precious to me. I can't imagine living life without my Savior.  That would be impossible.

That is pretty much it for the week. Hope you are doing well. Talk to you soon.
