Week #92 Uchtdorf conference and tricky ride home
Hello family and friends. I am writing you from a very interesting spot in a crowded bus heading toward Übersee so we can catch a train in Salzburg to take home to Wien. There seems to be a problem with the rails and we have to take a bus to continue our travels.
Besides that, our week has been unique in a very good way. We had a couple of work days where we meet with some interesting people and then on Saturday we went to Munich for MLC. We discussed a lot of different things including the language, missionary interactions, and more. Very inspiring to hear from President and Sister Brown and other mission leaders.
One interesting thought shared was about the coat of skins made for Adam and Eve before they had to leave the Garden. They tried to make fig leave aprons but God gave them something better so that they would feel more comfortable in their new world.
21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
I did not notice it before but it was cool to think that Christ also makes us an individual coat of skins through His Atonement. Every way He helps us is done on an individual level because everyone has different challenges and sins. It was something I found very interesting.
The next day we went to Salzburg for our conference with Elder Uchtdorf. It was so cool to hear from them in German. The message was still the same but I felt like I saw more behind him when he spoke his mother tongue. He gave us a lot of tips for the work but his testimony of Christ was my favorite part. He boldly told us that Christ and His power was real and the way Elder Uchtdorf said it showed his commitment. It was very cool.
We went back to Munich that night with the Assistants and we had an exchange with them the next day. I worked with Elder Parker and wow he is so cool. He sets a great example for missionaries by speaking a lot of German and by choosing to do the right thing even when it is hard. We met a new convert and we discussed spiritual gifts. The new convert said she would love to develop more gifts and I think she had enough faith to develop many gifts. It is cool how we can get to help others grow spiritually and see growth in ourselves as well.
We got to spend P day in Munich with the Browns and the APs. I have gotten to learn from lots of amazing people and I have been able to see what the Gospel can really do in the lives of people.
Well I hope we get home at a reasonable hour. It should not be terrible but probably after 9. By the time other people get this, I should be home. I am so happy to be back in Wien.
Have a great week!
Elder Evans
