Week #42 Insights from the Book of Omni
Hello everyone! Man, what a good week. We were able to fit a lot of different kinds of missionary work in this week. It was also a good way to finish my time in Freiburg because I am being transferred! It is weird to actually leave this place but I am glad what I learned during my time here. I will explain more of the transfer situation in a bit.
Wednesday we did some finding and went to Gemeinde Rat(Ward Council). We discussed the less active work we have been doing. There are not too many to visit but they are still important.
Thursday we helped a member family with their garden. We tilled the garden and plant the vegetables. I am not sure how long they will last. The soil was rocky but we still planted them. To treat us, they made Langos, a Hungarian food. It is fried douh with sour cream and cheese on top. You can also do Nutella if you like:) We got the bikes out to travel to this project. The weather has been great recently so we thought we would take iy while it lasts.
Friday was a normal finding day. Our appointment with Daniel almost went through but we ran into him as he was walking the opposite way from our meeting spot. He totally forgot about the appointment but we sat down and we taught him the Plan of Salvation. Teaching has to be my favorite part of missionary work.
Saturday we had transfer calls. My assignment is in Wien (Vienna, Austria) with Elder Damron. I have worked with him before and he is a good guy. We went to the Gemeinde Activity at the dinosaur museum and then went to the Ausstellung one last time. I am going to miss Königstraße honestly.
We found this lion statute on the way to the Gemeinde Activity
Sunday we had Gemeinde Conference with lunch afterwards. We helped with set up and cleaning for the lunch. That took a bit of time with chairs, tables, and dishea but it was fun. Saying good bye to members was weird. I feel like I just got here. Anyway, we also went to a musical fireside that night. The theme was " Peace, Hope, and Joy in Christ." Overall, it was good. I love going to musical firesides.
Monday was my last district meeting and FHE in Stuttgart. Both were a ton of fun with good discussions, food, and ping pong. That night, I got a call from the Office explaining that there were visa problems in Wien for the Elder I am replacing. He can't leave now so I will be going to his next area, Lahr, Germany, until it is ready. Once it is ready, we will switch. Not sure how long it will last but I am excited for a little adventure. Life has all its twists and turns, right?
A map that Elder Evans sent us of what the future of this transfer holds. It's expected he will be in Lahr for 1-3 weeks before traveling across the whole mission to get to Wien (Vienna), Austria
I found something cool in the Book of Omni this week. In verses 12-13, we read, "for behold, [Mosiah] being warned of the Lord that he should flee out of the land of Nephi, and as many as would hearken unto the voice of the Lord should also depart out of the land with him, into the wilderness—
And it came to pass that he did according as the Lord had commanded him... [and Mosiah's group] were led by the power of his arm, through the wilderness until they came down into the land which is called the land of Zarahemla."
Forgive the editing but basically, Mosiah follows a prompting and leads a group to the city of Zarahelma. They found the people in unbelief and with language problems. They taught the people of Zarahelma the Nephite language and the Gospel. Mosiah's group would eventually join the people of the city and that became their home. It was not until many years later that this city would become a place of refuge for the people of Limhi and Alma as they fled from the Nephites. The creation of the city of Zarahelma would eventally save 4 groups: Mosiah's, the people already there, Limhi's and Alma's.
Sometimes it may not make sense in the moment where the Lord is guiding us but later it does and if we recognize it, our gratitude for God will grow. The city of Zarahelma saved lives and it started with someone following a prompting. Follow the hard promptings and the Lord will make use of your obedience.
Well, maybe I will write you guys again from Lahr or Wien. Either way, you will hear from me next week:) Love you all! Tschüss!

This is Stuttgart 21- the project to make the whole train system in Stuttgart underground. It should have been done in 2021. It sounds like it will be 2026 instead.
